1,000 people helped us play out ’til tea - and it was great!
We’ve just hosted our first community event at Port Loop - Birmingham’s newest neighbourhood which we’re creating with our long-term friends and JV partners Places for People, as well as Birmingham City Council and the Canal & River Trust.
Around 1,000 people joined us for a free family fun day jam packed with arts, crafts, music, movies and more. There was a kids’ picnic at which hundreds of children were given free and healthy food, not to mention a bunch of other great local food stalls serving up treats to visitors (Urban Cheesecake was a particular favourite in our team).
Guests were also offered free barge tours of the water, and we had another barge offering a taxi service by canal to Brindleyplace.
With our partners, we’re at the start of our plans for Port Loop; the remaining homes in our first phase of customisable, family homes are on sale now, while the community event marked the completion of a one-acre park at the scheme - the first of many green spaces in the area.
This was our chance to give people a taste of the future; our masterplan is about celebrating community, green space and somewhere in which people can live, work and play. Sunday’s event allowed people to do just that and we can’t wait for the next one...
