Urban Splash Newsplash - March 2025
Welcome to our March 2025 edition of the Urban Splash Newsplash – your handy round-up of all the things Urban Splash
This month, there's recognition from the RIBA for our work at Royal William Yard in Plymouth, we've got news of a busy period of deals for our Commercial team and we meet one of our residents from Park Hill in Sheffield. Back in Manchester, some of our team have been helping with the fight to end youth homelessness, we hear from Sam Lenehan of KOMI Group on how they're growing their business in an Urban Splash workspace and we're looking for some new colleagues to join our team. Read on to find out more.

RIBA Recognition for Royal William Yard
Our transformation of Melville at Royal William Yard in Plymouth is nominated in the RIBA South West Awards – recognition of the restoration of the Grade I Listed building that’s now home to brands like Everyman Cinema. In other awards news, the Urban Splash Residential Fund’s £200m deal with Citu has been nominated in this year’s Property Week RESI Awards.

We’ve completed deals on more than 8,000 sq ft of commercial space
We’ve successfully completed deals on over 8,000 sq ft of workspace in the past three months, welcoming new businesses into Urban Splash buildings across the country. Notable deals include four completions at Mersey House in Matchworks, South Liverpool, as well as new occupiers at Beehive Mill in Manchester.

“Something about Park Hill just drew me in”
Artist and Park Hill resident Jane Smith has long been a fan of Park Hill - sketching the building for her architectural and streetscape illustrations. Now living in one of the apartments there, Jane says she’s “proud to be a part of the Park Hill story” – a story that’s now coming to life with a new art exhibition celebrating her artistic journey, running until 1st April.

Helping end youth homelessness
A huge well done to the eight Urban Splash colleagues who took part in the LandAid SleepOut at Depot Mayfield, Manchester last month. The team raised almost £4,000 to support the fight against youth homelessness, and also won a prize for Best Decorated Space, creating an eye-catching and inspiring area within Depot Mayfield for the event.

“I’m proud our growth is happening in an Urban Splash workspace”
KOMI Group is based at Waulk Mill in Ancoats – owning and operating one of the largest digital media portfolios in Europe. Sam Lenehan, Group Managing Director at KOMI, shares his experience of growing the business from an Urban Splash workspace – stating how our “flexible approach means KOMI will always have a home”.

Making moves this month
A delegation of Urban Splash colleagues are at MIPIM in Cannes this week, and we’ll be heading to UKREiiF later this spring. In other news, our colleague David Warburton took part in the Economic Development Panel at It's Your Swansea, where he shared our vision for the city’s future.
