        Restless for change

        11 March 2025
A 3 minute read by Reiss Whiteley

Eight members of the Urban Splash team took part in the annual LandAid Sleep Out at Depot Mayfield in Manchester, spending the night sleeping outside to raise funds to help end youth homelessness.

Our Financial Reporting Manager, Reiss Whiteley, fills us in on how the 2025 Sleep Out went and updates us on the total amount raised.

“On Thursday 27 February, the US Dream Team and I headed down to Depot Mayfield to join countless others from the property industry in the annual Sleep Out, donning our warmest thermals ready for an evening sleeping outside.

“This was my fourth year doing the Sleep Out with the Urban Splash team – it’s a memorable event with the opportunity to spend time with colleagues and network with others in our industry.

“There are multiple locations for the Sleep Out across the UK with the option to also join in at home – 2025 has been the biggest year for the Sleep Out so far with eight venues across the country.”

Reiss was joined by colleagues Feargal McKenna, Niamh Moloney, Sian Stanhope, Keely Ford, Caroline Ramsden, David Morgan and Shelley Green.

“We each grabbed our sleeping bags and cardboard and created our makeshift beds for the night. We’re obviously incredibly lucky that we only had to do this for one night – it’s massively thought provoking when you’re out there for what others must have to face and drives home how important it is for us to fundraise in support.

“We decked out our sleeping area with some bunting from the office (sporting our brand colours of course!) and picked up an award for Best Decorated Space.

“We also heard from representatives of LandAid how fundraising from previous events has been allocated and heard first-hand from young people the difference the support has made to them.

“Young people need our support now more than ever and it’s important that we continue our work with LandAid to create a brighter future for those facing or at risk of homelessness.”

Each person who takes part in the Sleep Out is tasked with raising £206, bringing the US Dream Team target for 2025 to £2,000.

“I’m pleased to say that the team smashed our £2,000 target, raising £3,965 for LandAid. The team really put in an effort to raise funds for this year’s Sleep Out and it’s a great achievement.

“Just £5 can provide accommodation for a day and night for a young person so it goes to show how much of an impact the money we’ve raised collectively can have.”

In case you missed it, our fundraising link is still live and we’re still actively taking donations to raise as much as possible to help end youth homelessness. Thank you to everyone who has supported as we continue to raise awareness of this critical issue.
