Urban Splash Newsplash - January 2020
2020 — Designs on a new decade!
As we wave goodbye to 2019 (take a look at our video recap of the year here!) it’s time to look to the future... We’ve got a busy year ahead of US, creating loads of new, brilliantly designed neighbourhoods and giving you more places to live, work and play for a new decade.
Here’s a rundown of what’s on the market, and what’s coming up in 2020...
Modern, waterside living at Port Loop, Birmingham
We’re launching another phase of our House by Urban Splash canalside homes at Port Loop in Birmingham this spring, giving customers another chance to join this island neighbourhood – one which the Telegraph called “the Amsterdam of the Midlands”. Can’t wait ‘til then? The last remaining Town Houses in phase 1 are now on the market – as are our Glenn Howells Brick Houses too.
Sustainable style at Mansion House, New Islington
Created using modern methods of construction, our Mansion House apartments, bring a unique aesthetic to New Islington in Manchester, with lovely exposed cross-laminated timber throughout. Every apartment is dual aspect with oversized windows – meaning residents get spectacular views like these; they’ll be ready to move into later this year.
More Town Houses arrive at New Islington
In 2016 we introduced the first ever House by Urban Splash homes at New Islington – and in summer 2020, more Town Houses complete in Manchester’s most exciting new neighbourhood with its park, marina, OFSTED-outstanding free school and the acclaimed Pollen Bakery. Find out more about owning one of our spacious, canalside family homes with parking and gardens, each boasting 1500 sq ft of living space.
...And we're growing our House by Urban Splash business too
We’re delighted to announce two senior appointments to help grow our House by Urban Splash business in 2020. Claire Kober has joined us as Independent Director and Chair of the Board, while Mark Shirburne-Davis has joined us as director for Northstowe - each of them bringing vast, international expertise that’ll help us achieve our House goals. Waterside working at Melville, Plymouth
Our new cultural hub at Melville is your last chance to move into new, waterfront workspace at Royal William Yard. Spaces from 300 to 100,000 sq ft will suit a range of occupiers – offices, retail, restaurant and leisure – there’s also a courtyard, views over Plymouth Sound and great neighbours; Everyman Cinema is signed up as the building’s latest tenant, adding to the Yard’s already established commercial mix.
Manchester’s biggest lofts at Avro, Ancoats
Offering living space of up to 2,600 sq ft, our Roger Stephenson-designed canalside loft apartments at Avro are some of the biggest in Manchester. We’ve sensitively transformed one of the city’s last, undeveloped Victorian mills, creating one, two and three bedroom homes – the last of which are on sale now. With exposed brickwork, cast iron columns and lots of original features, they’ll complete in summer 2020.
New homes in a new town at Inholm, Northstowe
We’re working with Homes England to create a new urban village for Cambridgeshire, with placemaking at its heart. More than 400 new homes – including lots of affordable options – will be created here, with House by Urban Splash launching the first Town Houses for sale this spring.
Buzzing offices at Beehive Mill, Manchester
We’ve completed our transformation of Beehive Mill, one of Manchester’s last surviving cotton mills in rejuvenated Ancoats. The building once played host to a soap factory, and of course the iconic Sankey’s nightclub; today it’s home to cool, creative businesses who’ve anchored themselves in what Time Out called the ‘13th coolest neighbourhood in the world’. Want to join ‘em? The final spaces are ready now.
Brutalism reinvented at Park Hill, Sheffield
This spring we’ll launch the second phase of homes for sale at Park Hill. Designed by the 2019 Stirling Prize winning architects Mikhail Riches, phase 2 comprises 200 homes and will retain the building’s distinct Brutalist structure, with reconfigured modern interiors. There’ll be 21,000 sq ft of ground floor commercial space in the mix too.
Anchor your business at Boat Shed
Our final remaining workspaces at the transformed Boat Shed in Salford Quays are ready for occupation in 2020; they have riverside views, great neighbours like Lupo Café and great communal outdoor areas. Spaces range from 262 to 5,600 sq ft.
Design your own home by the water at East Float, Wirral Waters
We’ve teamed up with Peel L&P to create a brand new residential quarter at Wirral Waters, featuring 347 of our modular homes; the first offering will be customisable Town Houses, designed by purchasers and then created offsite in our House by Urban Splash factory. They’ll launch for sale this spring.
Last chance to buy at Lakeshore in Bristol
Our last ever homes in Copper Building at Lakeshore in Bristol are now complete and ready for you to move into. The final homes released to the market include XX affordable homes, available via shared ownership, as well as the development’s biggest apartment offering XX sq ft of living space. Each home is set amongst 10 acres of private residents gardens and a lake.
Designing the future
And that’s not all; later this year, we’ll be unveiling more plans this year for beautiful new neighbourhoods at sites including Campbell Park in Milton Keynes. Subscribe to our Newsplash and each month we’ll tell you more...
