Midland Hotel achieves four star status
The Midland Hotel in Morecambe is celebrating the award of four star status from VisitBritain.
The achievement comes following the completion of a £10 million refurbishment at the Hotel by Urban Splash in June last year. The programme, which spanned four years, saw every aspect of the Hotel restored, including the external glittering façade, stunning sweeping staircase and of course the artworks by Eric Gill, which remain prominently placed around the building.
General Manager Matt Redhead said: “We are delighted to be able to announce this achievement. Urban Splash worked exceptionally hard to create a Hotel which incorporated both longstanding heritage and historic features, whilst introducing contemporary design. The excellent fusion of these factors led too the creation of a high quality luxury hotel.
“The Midland boasts 44 en suite bedrooms all designed to an exceptionally high standard. Penthouse suites feature either a hot tub or Jacuzzi as well as large bathrooms with his and hers toilet facilities. All this, coupled with fantastic food, a great bar atmosphere in the Rotunda, and conference and event facilities means that the Hotel is undoubtedly worthy of the four star status.”
Star statuses are awarded by VisitBritain inspectors who give each building a trustworthy and independent assessment. The four star status is awarded to properties which have an “excellent standard throughout” and take into consideration standard, cleanliness, ambience, hospitality, service and food.
